I met Makiko in 1998, a few months after I started living in Montreal.
She was introduced to me by Trevor Gould, who was my supervisor at the time.
Without having met her, my life in Montreal would probably have been much
different. Makiko is someone who is extraordinary and eccentric. Whoever
knows her would agree with me. I would have never met someone like her if
I stayed in Sapporo, and for that reason alone I am quite happy that I
traveled far and got to know her in Montreal. A lot of memories were
shared until she returned to Tokyo in 2002. The most memorable moment
with her would be when we were in our bathing suit alone, shooting a demo
tape, at the parc Jean-Mance in the middle of winter. It was minus 20
degrees below Celsius.
